Three months since my last post. Sorry about that. Everything went exactly as I could have wished it. Our little kitlet came in at a healthy 8lbs. 2oz. and after three months of sleepless nights he is an absolute joy. Already weighing in at over 15lbs. (and that with nothing to sustain him, but Mommy’s Magical Mammary Chloroform) He is smiling, laughing, and starting to roll over. There are things though that I was never told, or missed being told about labor and early babyhood. So for those Webbies out there who are curious, here are my lists of things I did not expect. One: When you water breaks you keep leaking water for the rest of your labor. It feels like you’re constantly wetting your pants. Two: When your first breastfeeding a newborn (As in the first six weeks or so) you have to keep poking them to get them to eat, otherwise they fall asleep and you (foolishly thinking they’re done eating) take them off your breast only to find they are instantly awake and ravenously hungry. This will then continue for the next two hours, for every feeding. Three: This may seem like a Duh! to most people, but I somehow missed it. You should never go anywhere with the baby with only the clothes on his back for clothes. He will inevitably have a blow-out diaper or spit-up everywhere and you WILL need to change him. Four: Doctor’s tell you; you will bleed for six weeks after delivery. What they don’t tell you is some women bleed bright red blood, having to change a pad every three hours for 5 weeks 5 days of that before it starts to tapers off. And if that happens you will be put on bed rest, which with a newborn, sucks! And last but not least Five: The first time the baby sleeps for six hours, you will wake up panicked and run into their room to make sure they’re still breathing. It will happen. That’s about it webbies. Sorry for the delay. I hope to be updating more often now that things have calmed down.<\/p>\n
